The Cape Breton Highlanders were back in action January 20th at Centre 200 against the Riptide. The Highlanders fell 105-87 to the Riptide.
Highlanders trailed the Riptide first quarter 35-34. In a back-and-fourth second quarter, the Highlanders picked up the lead to tie the Riptide 45-45 going into the half. Riptide took the lead going into the fourth to gain the victory over the Highlanders. 3-point field goals were the story of this game with the Riptide hitting 17 and the Highlanders only 2.
Deronn Scott led the Highlanders with 21 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds. Austin Witter scored 13 points and 11 rebounds. Chadrack Lufile scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Thomas Keith had 13 rebounds.
Anthony Anderson led the Riptide with 24 points. Olumuyiwa Famutimi scored 21 points, including 5 3-pointers. Horace Wormely had 17 points and 7 assists. Haakim Johnson scored 15 points and 7 rebounds.
The Cape Breton Highlanders face undefeated provincial rivals the Halifax Hurricane tomorrow, January 21st at Centre 200.
